Patrick, Founder and Editor
Patrick founded ReadyLience to turn broad preparedness advice into practical, source-led decisions for ordinary households.
Practical first, claims second
I'm Patrick, and I founded and edit ReadyLience. My experience is hands-on rather than credentialed: I have renovated my own apartment, my wife's office, and my parents' home, and I have real locksmithing experience. That work is where the site's instinct comes from — understand the system, find the failure points, reach for the right tool, and know the moment the job stops being yours and belongs to a professional.
What I will and won't claim
I am not an emergency responder, a physician, a licensed electrician, a structural engineer, or a certified self-defense instructor, and I never write as if I were. I keep my own first-hand work separate from desk research, product testing, community input, and expert review, and I hold back high-consequence material when the evidence or the review behind it isn't strong enough to stand on.
I bring the same pragmatic lens to Mastering Coffee, built from more than a decade of home coffee experiments — without ever pretending I worked as a professional barista.
What I take responsibility for
- Deciding which household problems are worth covering, and in what depth.
- Researching primary sources and keeping every consequential claim traceable.
- Documenting real DIY work and product testing without inventing field experience.
- Getting expert review where professional judgment is required, and recording it.
- Keeping commercial relationships well clear of any safety conclusion.
